Showing mercy

How well do we express the Love of God to others?

The Bible says in Luke 6:36

"Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful."

I remember being so angry at my sister because she did something that offended me and I said some bad things to her in return.

When the day came to an end and she got home from her school, I talked to her and told her that I was sorry for acting so violently.  She did the same for doing something that irked me.

As humans, we act based on our emotions, especially when someone gets to the wrong side of our line or when something just doesn't feel right.

We choose to blame other people or ourselves just to justify our wrongness or rightness.  We always have to blame somebody even though we are on the wrong.

That act is our nature, we are born sinners but God's grace and mercy has been showered on us so why still act that way?

Sometimes, we forget that we are not eligible to judge other people. We see that bad in them just as quick and we are not even sorry to say mean words.

But God is different, we see so highly of ourselves that we forget we are nothing.  And that everything we have is given by God. Because He is merciful towards us.

You see, God's mercy is not like our way of being merciful.  What does mercy mean?

According to the dictionary, it means: compassion or forgiveness shown toward someone whom it is within one's power to punish or harm.

God's mercy for us is like that, no matter how tainted we are, how sinful and broken we are, God's mercy endures forever.

However, it doesn't mean that His punishment will not come, but amid those punishment and rebuke coming from God, His mercy is everlasting, our relationship with Him will never change. It will not disappear and it will last forever.
