On July 12, 2019, the Shanghai Christian Council & Municipal Patriotic Three-Self Association held a lecture on how to write sermons.

In accordance with Shanghai Christianity, Rev. Geng Weizhong, chairman of the Shanghai Association, shared the "Core Socialist Values" with about 80 young and middle-aged pastoral workers.

He stressed that the church should not be separated from society and the explanation of doctrines should conform to history and national situations, social development and progress of the times.

Regarding the idea of society, the pastor encouraged Christian premises to strengthen their connections with local sub-district offices and communities.

Calling on the participants to explore how the Bible responded to different cultures, he added that Chinese Christianity should interpret the faith based on fine traditions of Chinese culture.

In addition, Rev. Geng exhorted the participants to do what God's word says so as to influence more people to discover the Christian faith and play a positive role in society.
