Members of congregations across China gathered last week to celebrate the annual World Day of Prayer (WDP).

The Chinese churches in various provinces and cities included Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Changsha, Kunshan, Guangzhou, and Kunming observed the international event that falls on the first Friday of March. This year the theme was "Come - Everything is Ready" (Luke 14:15-24). The text of the service was written by Slovenia and translated by the China Christian Council (CCC) & the Three-Self Patriotic Movement (TSPM). According to the official website,  the origins of Women's World Day of Prayer date back to the 19th century when Christian women in the USA and Canada initiated a variety of cooperative activities in support of women's involvement in mission, at home and abroad.
