Six Times Super Bowl, Spring Festival Gala "Chunwan" is the most-watched on Earth

China Central Television's Lunar New Year Gala has been considered as the most-watched musical on planet. More than 700 million watched this five-hour long gala this year, which about six times Super Bowl (111 million).

Annually, along with the Lunar New Year celebration, the CCTV broadcast Spring Festival Gala or commonly known in Chinese as "Chunwan" on CCTV-1 and on its satellite channels CCTV-4, CCTV-Espanol, CCTV News and CCTV-Francais.

The Chinese Spring Festival Gala has been ongoing annually since 1983 and has been part of Chinese families in celebrating and welcoming the New Year.

This broadcast has a yearly viewership of over 700 million viewers making it one of the most prestigious and famous television event in China thus it was tagged as "the most-watched television program in the world".

In the year 2014 only, the special show has more than 800 million viewers.While on 2015, there are 690 million viewers for the show. For this year,CCTV estimated a total of 1033 million viewership for the show.

Though there were changes over the year to address modernity, the format and synopsis of the show is still the same. The special television show features musical, dance, drama and comedy performances.

In this year's gala,it was hosted by Zhu Jun, Dong Qing, Zhou Tao, Li Sisi, Sa Beining, Negmat Rahman, Xu Jie (Shaanxi Broadcast Corporation, SXBC), Ren Luyu, Deng Lu (Guangdong Radio and Television, GRT), Li Jiaming, Zhao Linshuo (Quanzhou TV), Ma Yue and Ourentuya (Inner Mongolia TV, NMTV).

And one of the most notable part of the show is when 540 dancing robots and 29 neon drones backed up one of the acts in the show.
