State Council Issues Revised Draft of Regulations on Religious Affairs

On September 5, Legislative Affairs Office of the State Council of PRC announced that it is to seek public advices for the revised draft of regulations on religious affairs for examination and approval. The advices can be given through the official website of the LAO, letters or email.
The regulations has been passed 11 years ago as the present regulations on religious affairs was issued on November 2004 and became effective in March 2005.
On July 23, 2015, when marked the 10th anniversary of the regulation implementation, the State Administration for Religious Affairs held the tenth forum on religious work around the amendment of the regulations. Wang Zuoan, the director of the department, attended the forum and put forward a claim for an amendment, declaring it as the top priority for the department in 2015.
On the one hand, he affirmed the historical significance of the current regulations; but on the other hand, he says that it doesn't adapt to this age, which requires the perfection of the religious affairs management.
The new revised draft has more than 9600 characters and the contents consist of nine parts: general provisions, religious bodies, religious schools and universities, sites for religious activities, religious personnel, religious property, legal liability and supplementary provisions.
