Despite his efforts to clean the government, looks like Chinese President Xi Jinping has more work to do as his country remains in the middle rank among countries with corruption perceptions index.

In a Transparency International's annual survey this year, China came in as the 77th "cleanest" country among territories which was measured to have perceived levels of public sector corruption. China tied with nations like Trinidad and Tobago, Suriname and Serbia.

Last year, China ranked 79th with corruption rating rising by one point, from 40 to 41 ( 0 being extremely corrupt and 100 being extremely clean).

According to a report, the average score this year was 43 which is considered very alarming as two-thirds of the world are suffering from high levels of corruption.

Meanwhile, Hong Kong ranked 13th after Singapore and Japan. Taiwan came in 29th in the ranking.
