Traffic Collision in China Saves Kidnapped Woman

A rear-end accident saved a kidnapped woman on Monday, May 21 in Chengdu, Southwest China's Sichuan province. The kidnapper has been caught, according to the police.

According to some photos and video circulating online, three cars were involved in a rear-end collision during peak traffic hours. A woman wearing black sat on the ground near the third car and was trying to free her hands and feet which are both tied securely.

A witness reported that the accident happened at the Gaosheng Bridge of Chengdu's No. 1 Ring Road on Monday, May 22 and a man wearing a cap left the said third car and ran away. Shortly after, the woman rolled out from the backseat of that car.

Witness added that the woman's hands and feet were tied and her mouth was covered with tape. The shocking scene prompted others to take photos and videos so the situation went viral.

Police authorities from Chengdu's Qingyang district published on its Weibo account confirming that they already caught the man who fled the scene. The suspect was apprehended in Mianyang, Sichuan province. He confessed that he kidnapped the woman at an underground park. Police said that further investigation will still be conducted.
