On Saturday, three Chinese auto groups - FAW Group, Dongfeng Automobile and Chongqing Changan Automobile - have announced that they will be creating a ride-sharing platform which would mirror the service offered by Uber.

In the post of Changan on Wechat on Saturday, it said "The three major car companies have joined forces to enter the field of shared travel, which provides an opportunity to transform traditional car enterprises."

The new venture between the three auto groups is called T3 Mobile Travel Services and it would connect partners from other industries to develop the service and assist in the development of driverless cars, as well as offer safer and efficient travel services.

The joint cooperation agreement between the three parties were signed in December.

Currently, China's ride-sharing network is led by Didi Chuxing.
