Shanghai Approves Municipal Regulations on Religious Affairs

According to the WeChat account of "Shanghai Municipal Commission of Ethnic and Religious Affairs", on November 22, 2018, the revised municipal regulations on religious affairs were approved by voters. 

The law marks the first local version of the religious regulations which will take effort on March 1, 2019.

It has 60 articles of ten chapters covering general principles, religious groups, religious schools, venues for religious activities, religious professionals, religious activities, religious assets, foreign religious affairs, and legal responsibility. 26 new articles are added and other 22 are amended. 

Practical provisions are made to address issues of the layout of religious premises, census registration, social insurance of religious staff as well as foreign religious affairs.
