China has accused the Philippines of "political provocation" on Thursday after seeking international arbitration over the claims in the controversial South China Sea.

According to Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, the decision made by the Philippine leaders was very irresponsible not just to Filipino people today but to the future of the Philippines.

Wang has blamed the Pearl of the Orient Sea country for closing doors during the negotiations with China over their dispute and seeking third party or US decision to this matter.

"We are neighbors just separated by a narrow body of water. We want to contribute to the Philippines' economic development," Wang mentioned during his interview.

Wang even added that China has stopped reclaiming land unlike other countries who are continuing to do so.

Wang was in Washington this week as he will participate for talks and discussions with Secretary of the United States John Kerry. The issue about South China Sea have strained the relationship between US and China, as US favors more the Philippines. In addition to it, China has been accused by US of militarizing a key conduit for world trade. However, China also said that Washington, along its allies are the responsible ones for raising terrible tensions.

Wang further added that the China's military facilities on the reefs and islands were needed just for self-defense as other nations have militarized in their surrounding shores. And, according to him, China plans to build civilian infrastructure that would be an advantage for their country as well as the international community.
