The Prime Minister of United Kingdom, Theresa May advised China to arbitrate more vigorously in curbing the North Korea's crisis and missile ambitions. She also referred Beijing as the key to defuse the tensions.

During her three-day visit in Japan which started on August 30, she held a meeting with Shinzo Abe to discuss the issues in the region.

Speaking to local reporters in Kyoto, the British prime minister declined the possibility of ruling out military action against North Korea. But she stressed out the Britain's focus remained on the joint international efforts to limit the missile activity of Pyongyang, saying that China should be more proactive to assist this situation.

"China has, I think, a very key role to play in terms of the pressure it can bring," May said. "I have said this to President Xi, other have as well. We think that China has a role to play and we'd encourage China to do everything it can to bring pressure on North Korea to stop this."

When the British prime minister was asked if she could back or be involved in military action to counter attack North Korea, she reiterated that it must be a joint action with China at the center.

"What is the UK doing? What we're doing is working with our international partners," she said. "We want to continue to bring pressure on North Korea to ensure that they desist this action. And we see that the best way of doing is for China to be bringing pressure to bear on North Korea."

"It's about the sort of pressure and change that China can bring. I think they're a key player in this. In terms of what's we're doing, we're looking to work with our partners. But crucially, we see China as being the key in this," Theresa May added.
