A public lecture titled "China’s Earliest Christians: Who Were They and What Can We Learn from Them?" will convene at the University of Northwestern-St. Paul in Minnesota, U.S. on March 20.

Co-hosted by ChinaSource, the lecture will feature Dr. Glen Thompson as the keynote speaker. He will discuss the earliest Christian presence in China through the discovery of a great stone stele in 1625, focusing on the Jingjiao (Luminous Teaching) community during the Tang Dynasty in the 700s. Dr. Thompson will explore their mission, cultural adaptation, and government oversight, offering insights and lessons for the modern Chinese church.

Dr. Glen Thompson, professor emeritus at Asia Lutheran Seminary in Hong Kong, is the author of Jingjiao: The Earliest Christian Church in China (2024), which received an Award of Merit from Christianity Today as one of the top Christian history books in 2024.
