In order to sustain the demand for organ donations in the country, the Chinese government - as stated by medical expert Huang Jiefu on Sunday - would be adding more than 300 hospitals that can do organ transplants within a five year period.

The government, as cited by Huang, would also bolster the training of donation coordinators which would try to convince families of plausible donors and assist them on how the donation promise will be done. It is the government's target to double the number of these coordinators within the same period of the construction of new hospitals.

At the present time, only 169 hospitals are capable of doing organ transplant surgeries and the country is now considered the country with the most number of organ donors in Asia and second globally. Every year, 300,000 patients require transplants in the country with 10,057 transplants performed.
