The Road Map To Destiny

Almost everything that we can get at the mall or at the supermarket comes with an instruction manual. Some manuals are long, while some are just a few tips on how to use a product.

We are products of God, His creation. We, too, have an instruction manual to life which is the Word of God.

God created us with a destiny.

Some of us are destined to be doctors, while some are teachers. Some become writers, while some become preachers. Either way, the point is, we have a destiny; and God has given us a manual as to how to get there.

"What?" You ask?

It is the Word of God.

One of the things you need to know about the Bible is that it is like a mirror. It is there where you ultimately discover who you are and what you are destined to be.

Take the life of John the Baptist for example.

As John the Baptist was baptizing in the Jordan river, some priests and Levites came to him in order to ask him who he was. Instead of telling them his background, take note on how John the Baptist answered:

He said, "I am the voice of one crying out in the wilderness, 'Make straight the way of the Lord,' as the prophet Isaiah said." -John 1:23 ESV

Somewhere in the Bible, there's a passage that speaks about you.

When we walk outside in the dark, we take a flashlight and we use it to light the way. We don't see the length of the road, but we see enough to move forward. The Word of God is life's flashlight.

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. -Psalm 119:105 ESV

Every verse in the Bible that speaks to us is just one of the ways in which God directs us.

Have you ever read the Bible and stopped at a verse and felt like, "This word is speaking to me," and somehow you have your eyes fixed on that word? It grips your heart.

That feeling is God speaking.

Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know. -Jeremiah 33:3 NIV

If we ask God, "What should I do?" He will answer.

If we ask Him, "Where should I go?" He will answer.

Call to me and I will answer you, He says. That's a promise.

Let's just not forget to read the Bible and read until we get the heart gripping Word. Words like that are light. It illuminates our entire being, and then, we can take a step further into our destiny, even if it's just one step at a time.

Meditate on those verses that God causes to be alive to you. Those make up your road map. And God promises that if we follow, He will establish us and bless us.
