After the two-month lasting downpour that affected 50 churches in the mountainside of Fugong County in the Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefection, a local Christian called Brother Yang showed that there are people who care for others even at times of crisis.

Within three days since the disaster struct the area, Brother Yang visited several Christian families affected by the disaster in Zilijia Village and brought aid such as rice and clothes and he even prayed with them.

In the first family he visited, the family had four children who were washed away by the mudslide. The patriarch of the family converted to Christianity a year ago and had gained the trust of the villagers. However, his wife was unable to reach out to their fellow villagers due to her poor health. She is also in need of care constantly due to her illnesses. Despite their plight, the villagers only built a simple shed for them which is not good for the recovery of his wife.

The second family's home had their kitchen destroyed by the floods and left sludge and broken windows everywhere. The owner of the home had once served the church and luckily, he could get financial assistance from his children who works in the city.

The final family Brother Yang visited lived close to the road and the mudslide had taken away every foundation of their home. The patriarch is a brother of a decon. Yang said the family did not have anything to eat and they could only sleep with a donated quilt and carpet.

In his visit, Brother Yang comforted them and gave them hope, saying that God will aid them recover and believe also that the government would assist in their recovery. They also received a bag of rice and clothes as assistance. Yang said that the donation came from an online communication group that preaches sermons done by the Lisu ethnic people.

He also shared that he can only assist these affected villagers a little bit because he believes that people should not always expect charity from others; but they must put their hope and faith to God, awaiting His aid. God, Yang believes, will solve their problems in many ways. Those Yang assisted felt satisfied and filled with gratitude after getting assistance.
