The Seminar & Workshop on Theological Reception Histories in Modern & Contemporary China was convened in Hong Kong from December 20 to 21.
The first session focused on the Chinese reception histories of 20th-century German theologians Jurgen Moltmann, Karl Barth, and Dietrich Bonhoeffer in China. The second session explored the implications of theological reception histories in seminary teaching & academic research. The third session broadened the discussion to examine theological reception histories from intercultural, historical, and contemporary perspectives.
The program was organized by the Department of Cultural & Religious Studies, the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), and the Resource Center for Contemporary Christian Studies, Divinity School of Chung Chi College, CUHK, and co-hosted by the Center for Christian Studies, CUHK.
Professor Naomi Thurston, Divinity School of Chung Chi College, CUHK, and Director Yeung H. N. Daniel, Institute of Sino-Christian Studies gave their opening speeches in the opening session.
More than twenty professors and scholars from mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and overseas attended the program.
