A church in Shanghai held a dedication ceremony for its new building.

On December 27, Fengxian CC&TSPM conducted a dedication service for the newly relocated Qixian Jesus Church, the plaque unveiling ceremony for the new building, and the exhibition of Christianity’s localization in Fengxian District, reported Shanghai Municipal CC&TSPM.

Rev. Geng Weizhong, chairman of the Shanghai Christian Council (CC), preached on “Build Up the Body of Christ in Love,” citing Ephesians 4:1–16. He exhorted the congregants to bear with one another in unity and love and to grow up into Christ, the head, as well as to put on the full armor of God, edifying the body of Christ.

During the unveiling ceremony, Elder Shen Meijuan introduced the history and development of the Qixian Jesus Church.

Built in 1946 with 3.5 houses, Qixian Jesus Church began with about 50 believers. Religious activities were suspended at the church in 1958 and re-established following the reform and opening up in 1978. After purchasing the previous building of Baiqu Primary School, the church was rebuilt in 1995. In August 2012, it was moved to the Group 3 warehouse in Baiqu Village, Qixian Community, Jinhui Town, Fengxian District, as a temporary meeting point for church gatherings with about 400 congregants. The church relocation project was initiated on November 5, 2021, and was completed at the end of March 2023, with a trial run on June 18, 2023. Covering an area of 3,400 square meters (0.84 acres), the relocated building has a construction area of 2,580.57 square meters (0.6376 acres), which encompasses a main chapel with a capacity of 800 people, a small chapel, supporting ancillary functional rooms, and a canteen.
