Nanjing Union Theological Seminary (NUTS) hosted a seminar on December 5–6, focusing on the Sinicized understanding of God and featuring contributors to Jinling Theology and Teaching Materials (hereinafter referred to as Two Journals).
The seminar saw an attendance of over 40 people, including experts and scholars from universities and colleges, author representatives of the Two Journals from seminaries, Bible schools, and churches nationwide, as well as all the seminary’s faculty and students, said the host.
Professor Zhuo Xinping, former director and first-level researcher at the Institute of World Religions under the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and honorary president of the Chinese Society of Religious Studies, delivered a keynote address titled “Exploration of the Sinicized View of God.” Professor Yang Huilin, former vice president of Renmin University of China, president of the Chinese Comparative Literature Association, and vice president of the Chinese Association of Religious Studies, presented a keynote speech titled “A Chinese Interpretation of ‘I am the Beginning—I am the End’.” The seminar also featured discussions on constructing a sinicized view of God from various perspectives, including biblical theology, systematic theology, and philosophy of God.
Director Zhao Jingwen of the Research and Editorial Office of NUTS facilitated a sharing session for the Two Journals' authors. The seminary stated: “Since its establishment in 1953, Jinling Theology has contributed to advancing Christian academic research, supporting the healthy development of the Chinese church, and fostering Chinese theology. It has become an academic platform for promoting the sinicization of Christianity.”
