On Christmas Day, Chengxi Church in Huarong County, Yueyang City, Hunan Province, hosted a celebration event that attracted nearly a thousand believers from diverse churches in the county.
During the morning worship, Vice Chairman Zhang Jie of the Huarong TSPM delivered a sermon based on Luke 2:8-20, themed "Following the Example of the Saints, Serving the Lord Devoutly." Emphasizing the significance of Christ’s birth, Zhang encouraged believers to learn from Mary, Joseph, the shepherds, and the Magi, as well as worship and serve God with a devout heart. Following the sermon, the church held a baptism and communion service.
In the afternoon, collaborating with several other churches, Chengxi Church hosted a theatrical performance, which attracted local community residents’ participation.
The programs were rich and diverse, featuring dances, instrumental performances, poetry recitations, drumline routines, dramas, and skits. Participating churches included Chengguan Church, Guangsha Church, Yongxing Church, and Zhuxin Church.
Sangtian Church's sign language dance "Let Us Come Before God Together" stood out with its unique expression, showcasing reverence for God and steadfast faith. Chengxi Church's dance "Praise the Lord Jesus" with the rhythm of bamboo clappers, and Zhuxin Church's bamboo hat dance "You Are the Most Beautiful in My Heart" featured lively rhythms and distinct ethnic characteristics. The event concluded with Chengxi Church's yangko dance "Brothers and Sisters, Let Me Ask You Something."
