Last Wednesday, Nanjing Union Theological Seminary organized a visit to its retired co-workers for the upcoming Chinese New Year.
At the January 15 gathering, Rev. Wu Wei, president of both the China Christian Council (CCC) and Nanjing Union Theological Seminary, expressed gratitude to the retired staff for their significant contributions to the seminary's development, said the host seminary. He encouraged the attendees to remain mindful of God's calling and their responsibilities. Rev. Wu also hoped the retired colleagues would continue to pray for the seminary's various ministries.
The following day, Rev. Wu and his delegation paid a special visit to retired pastors Rev. Zhao Zhien and Rev. Bao Jiayuan. Rev. Bao, a former associate general secretary of the CCC, is a prominent Chinese Christian leader who, over the past three decades, made contributions to the CCC&TSPM. His efforts included advancing the printing and distribution of Chinese Bibles and fostering international exchanges for the Chinese church.
Rev. Zhao, with over 70 years of service in China's Christian community, has been dedicated to theological education. He endured the challenges of the Cultural Revolution, during which he was barred from ministry and sent to work in rural areas. Following the revival of the Chinese Christian community in the 1980s, he was ordained as pastor in 1988.
