Ahead of the annual college entrance exam in early June, Longcheng Church in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, recently held a lecture that blended Christian teachings with psychological insights, aiming to support families of exam candidates in facing the pressures and challenges of this critical time.
During the sharing session, Speaker Shi explained in family education how to apply these principles from 1 Corinthians 13:7-"Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things." She offered guidance on how parents can help their children face academic stress with a healthy mindset. She emphasized that authority should stem from love, encouraging parents to set boundaries while fostering their children's ability to make independent decisions. She noted that parents have a responsibility to nurture self-discipline and self-control in their children. Care is expressed through words and actions, ensuring children feel loved, while unconditional acceptance fosters a sense of security and self-worth.
In two rounds of group discussions, participants engaged deeply with the lecture's themes, sharing their own insights and experiences in parenting education.
Longcheng Church was established on November 8, 2009. At that time, it rented a factory building located at No. 48 Aihua Road, Longcheng Street, Longgang District, as a temporary gathering place to start meetings. In November 2012, due to urban planning and demolition, the church moved to another location—a commercial space on the second floor of Jixianglai Garden, with a leased area of 3,054 square meters. In 2018, it was officially approved and received a formal "Religious Activity Venue Registration Certificate." Three year later, the church purchased a new meeting space at a shopping mall, near the church's original location. The new venue is a commercial space with an area of 586.55 square meters.
