A special new year's gift for children is scheduled on December 22 as the China National Theater for Children will be premiering the drama "The See-Saw Tree" at the China Children Art Theater.

The drama is writen by English writer David Wood, known for his child-friendly dramas and stories. Artists from both China and the United Kingdom will be working together to revise the show to fit the Chinese audience.

British dramatist Adam Stafford and Chinese director Mao Ernan will jointly direct this drama.

The story discusses whether to cut down a 300-year-old oak, reflecting how environmental protection must be seen by children today.

According to Yin Xiaodong, the president of CNTC, introducing foreign classic works symbolizes CNTC's broad-mindedness and cultural confidence.

"I hope we can maintain its original style as a British drama, and also show Chinese artists' understanding of this work," said Yin.
