Ten Bible Verses to Fight Back Temptation

By Elsie HuOctober 19th, 2016

The world is filled with various temptations, such as material and sinful desires. Sometimes, we want to overcome them but the fact shows that we fail at these temptation and become weak, even fall fighting it all together. Actually we need to check the reason why we are tempted, enticed and turn weak. Overcome them with the help of God rather than just fighting it ourselves.

Some Christians may claim: why do we fail when asked to depend on God? The main reason is that we stay far away from God and His word. In our daily life, we don't treat God's word with our hearts open like deers pant for streams of water and fight back temptation with God's word.

Read these ten Bible verses to fight the temptation you experience everyday:

Hebrews 4:15-16 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are-yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God's throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

Proverbs 4:23  Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.

1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

James 1:13 When tempted, no one should say, "God is tempting me." For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone.

Deuteronomy 31:8 The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Philippians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

1 Peter 5:8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

James 4:7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Psalm 32:7-8 You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance. I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.
