Vietnam will start to teach Chinese language in its primary school starting from 2017.
This was according to the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) on Monday.
The MoET is known to build a general education program for Japanese, Chinese and Russian languages and the three languages will be reportedly taught as the first foreign language to the local students of Vietnam starting from grade three to grade 12.
Nguyen Minh Chau, deputy head of education and training department of Vietnam's northern Lang Son province, said on local Dan Tri (People's Knowledge) online newspaper on Monday that as his province borders China, it will be favorable to develop Chinese language teaching, as per Xinhua News Agency.
Lang Son will continue to teach the students English as the first foreign language and teach Chinese as well to meet with pupil's demands.
Moreover, French, Korean and German is expected to be taught as the second languages in academic year 2016-2017.
