Following the discovery of a Bible being displayed publicly in its hospital, US Navy officials launched an investigation that sparked from a complainant who noticed the oddity.

The Military Religious Freedom Foundation filed a seven-page complaint on behalf of the 26 servicemen who saw that a Bible was publicly displayed at the table at the Prisoner of War galley. The group cited that aside from the Bible, a placard with a statement "The Bible represents the strength gained through faith to sustain those lost from our country, founded one nation under God" is also publicly displayed.

MMRF stated that the Bible, as well as the placard, was unconstitutional to non-Christians. The group added that the display violated the Department of Defense and the Navy's regulations.

The US Constitution prohibits any public offices from endorsing any type of religion and the same rule can also be found from Pentagon.

The group's president and founder, Mikey Weinstein initially contacted the Navy hospital and asked that the religious items be removed. A Navy staff was said to have refused the request pending an actual order from Capt. Cynthia Kuehner who was on leave.

"They translated a phrase into Japanese in order to proselytize the Japanese," Weinstein allegedly said.

"The Bible is on the table because it is part of the tradition that predates our current demands for political correctness," former Army Reserve Hiram Sasser told the Todd Starnes Radio Show. He added that a simple Bible dispute perpetuated by one group does not really reflect well on the U.S. Military against other nations.
