North Korea's Kim Jong Un and Chinese President Xi Jinping discussed issues like denuclearization of the Korean peninsula and came to an understanding, the North Korea's state media said on Wednesday, June 20.

The two leaders assessed the historic meeting between Kim and Donald Trump in Singapore last week. They also exchanged opinions on different ways to resolve the denuclearization issue, Korean Central News Agency said.

Kim Jong Un also promised with Xi that he will cooperate with Chinese officials to secure "true peace" in the process of opening a "new future" on the Korean peninsula, it added.

Kim's visit to Beijing is his third time this year. Xi offered high praise to Kim Jong Un for the positive outcome of the summit held last week.

Kim's two-day visit to China will end on Wednesday, according to both the state media of North Korea and China. It follows his Singapore summit, where he met with Trump and reaffirmed a commitment to work towards the complete denuclearization of Korean peninsula.

Trump surprised officials in United States and South Korea after saying he would end "provocative" joint US-South Korean military exercises. Both US and South Korea said that they had agreed to suspend the joint military exercise scheduled for August, although some decisions like subsequent drills have not been finalized.

North Korean media said that China and North Korea has entered into a new level of development since Kim's first visit in Beijing last March. Kim told Xi that he is willing to bolster the friendship and cooperation for both countries.
