On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Amity Foundation, World Council of Churches (WCC) general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay extended warm greetings on behalf of the global fellowship.
"Since its founding in 1985, the Amity Foundation has stood as a shining witness to compassion in action—rooted in the values of service, solidarity, and care for those most in need," Pillay wrote. "Over the past four decades, Amity has dedicated itself to supporting vulnerable communities, advancing education and health, promoting sustainable development, and fostering interfaith and intercultural dialogue."
Pillay noted that the Amity Foundation's work has touched countless lives, bringing hope and dignity where they are most needed.
"As a longstanding partner, the WCC regards this milestone not only as a time to celebrate remarkable achievements, but also as an opportunity to reflect on the enduring spirit that has guided Amity's mission," Pillay continued. "Looking ahead, the challenges facing our world demand renewed determination and collective action."
Pillay reflected that the Amity Foundation is well-positioned to play a vital role in shaping responses that uphold human dignity and safeguard our shared future.
"May the coming decades bring even greater opportunities to serve, to learn, and to build bridges of understanding among peoples and nations," Pillay wrote. "The World Council of Churches deeply values your witness and contribution."
