Since Pokemon Go remains locked to many countries worldwide, there are groups now working on creating their own knock-off series imitating the effects of the popular mobile game.
In China, several knock-offs have already been released such as City Elves Go. However, another knock-off is making a name for itself this week and is now China's most downloaded application for both Android and Apple devices.
The name of the game is City Spirit Go, developed by Sun Xiaoyu. Much like City Elves Go, this game also utilizes geo-locations to allow users to catch creatures in their neighborhood in real time. Unfortunately, this game does not have an augmented reality feature which is a big plus in the larger counterpart. The game is now the number 1 most popular game in the Chinese Apple Store and the Android store. However, full details of the rank of this game cannot be tracked in Android as Google Play store is not available in the country. According to research, in-game purchases for this game amount up to 648 yuan or $95.
With a date not yet certain regarding the availability of the game in Asia and other parts of the globe, knock-offs like City Spirit Go are likely to grow. However, considering that there are areas in Asia that were able to play Pokemon Go on Monday, experts say that the Asia launch of Pokemon Go is plausible in the near future.
