Many of the marriages nowadays have resort to divorce when they feel uncomfortable, disrespected and unloved by their partners. They see this as a positive solution to a troubled relationship. Is this lawful in the eyes of God? Is this right?

The bible tells us that God hates divorce (Malachi 2:16, "I hate divorce!"). Why? Because marriage is a special covenant between a man and a woman, and their God. It is a lifetime relationship that should never be separated by human action. We should be aware that marriage is for life - for keeps - and not something to be entered into and then come out of whenever we feel like it.

Since God has created us in His own image. Therefore, our marriage must glorify and praise Him. It tears the very heart of God to see that the couple He has bonded to live a life together chose to end up marriage through divorce. Our marriage should be seen as an example of God's image and God's description of love.

Marriage completes each other. It is said in Genesis 2:18 that "It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him." With marriage, we experience companionship. How wonderful it is to have someone in our life. Praise God!

Marriage is far more important than most of us realize. God hates divorce because it affects His reputation here on earth. That is why it is very important for couples to put God at the center of their marriage and know Him as the Builder of their home.

When our marriage is in deep troubled, seek God and let Him restore it. Never think of divorce as a good and effective recourse to end up the pain in marriage. God sustains relationship. Trust in His ability. Have faith in Him. Kneel down and pray. Know that "A family that prays together stays together."
