Editor's note: The author drove to a small church in a remote mountain region, where he met the church leader, Sister Li, and listened to her new year reflections.

Below is Sister Li's sharing:

Last year has been marked by challenges and growth for our rural church.

Living conditions in rural areas are relatively difficult, and many believers face significant pressures. For example, an elderly believer in the village, whose children work out of province, struggles with poor health and daily inconveniences. Upon learning of his situation, the church organized young believers to assist him regularly by cleaning his home and purchasing daily necessities.

On another occasion, the village was struck by a flood that damaged some believers’ homes. The church responded promptly, coordinating material aid while helping repair the affected houses. Through these efforts, believers supported one another, and I was deeply moved by the congregation’s unity and the strength of faith.

We also actively organize various religious activities. Every Sunday, congregants arrive early at the church to pray and sing hymns devoutly. Additionally, we host Bible study classes to encourage a deeper understanding of the doctrines.

However, we have faced challenges as well. Among the varying educational levels in rural areas, some believers struggle to grasp more complex theological concepts. Furthermore, some young people show less interest in traditional religious practices in this developing society. These experiences have made us realize the importance of ensuring the church evolves to meet the needs of the present.

In the new year, numerous aspirations are envisioned for the church. A mutual aid group is planned to strengthen the support and care extended to believers.

In faith education, innovative methods are being considered, such as producing engaging Christian short videos to share on social media, especially targeting the younger generation. Outdoor activities, including prayer gatherings in the fields, are also planned to help participants connect with nature and experience the majesty of God.

For the church's development, plans include establishing a youth fellowship and organizing activities suitable for young people. Through these activities, they can feel the vitality and warmth of the church and become interested in the Christian faith. Additionally, enhancing exchanges and collaboration with other churches is important.

The development of rural areas is closely related to the church’s growth. In 2025, the church should play a greater role in supporting rural development. Activities should include organizing believers to participate in rural environmental improvement efforts and offering skills training to help members acquire more agricultural techniques and handicraft skills.

Achieving these goals will not be easy. However, I firmly believe we can overcome challenges with collective effort and God’s guidance. In the new year, I am committed to working diligently to fulfill my responsibilities, continuously improving my leadership skills and religious understanding. I will strive to listen patiently to the voices of church members, address their needs, and be a trusted guide.

Reflecting on the past, there have been both achievements and shortcomings. Looking ahead, I am filled with confidence and hope. I believe that in the new year, the church will shine like a star, radiating love and hope across the rural area.
