On June 8, Pentecost Sunday, Chengbei Church in Jiangyin City, Jiangsu Province, held an evening worship and praise service to commemorate the coming of the Holy Spirit.
According to the church, Senior Pastor Rev. Gu Oufen delivered a message titled "The Holy Spirit Burns Christians' Hearts at Pentecost," emphasizing how the fire of the Holy Spirit ignites the altar of prayer, transforms the lives of disciples, sparks revival within the church, and requires a heart prepared to be kindled. She encouraged believers to seek the infilling and outpouring of the Holy Spirit and to open their hearts to receive it.
Following the sermon, the church's dance team praised God through song and dance. The church members were moved to tears and filled with joy.
Chengbei Church in Jiangyin City was established in 1908 by Presbyterian missionary Rev. Lacy L. Little and Chinese missionary Li Xianghua. In 1918, the current location was acquired and became a fixed place of worship. The building sustained damage during the Anti-Japanese War but was later repaired. The church was forced to close in 1958, and its property was not returned until 1998, when believers were able to resume gatherings at the site. It was officially registered in 2000, and construction of a new church building began in 2006. By 2020, there were 3 full-time church staff and over 80 volunteers, and the church's ministries have continued to develop.
