On November 19, Huanggang Church in Raoping County, Chaozhou City, hosted a thanksgiving service and groundbreaking ceremony for its new church building.
According to Guangdong CC&TSPM, the event brought together nearly 300 Christian leaders and church representatives from the province and the local community.
Huanggang Church in Raoping County holds a 151-year history. In 1989, the original church was demolished due to urban planning, leading to the establishment of a temporary meeting point. As the venue could no longer take the growing congregation, government authorities approved the construction of a new church. The new building's architectural design features distinctive regional cultural elements and will accommodate approximately 400 people upon completion.
During the thanksgiving service, Rev. Fan Hong’en, chairperson of Guangdong Provincial TSPM, urged everyone to work in unity to construct the new church as a dwelling place for God and a house of worship for all.
At the groundbreaking ceremony, Rev. Guo Yun, president of Guangdong Provincial CC, highlighted that the successful commencement of Huanggang Church's construction symbolizes the integration and growth of Christianity within Raoping County. H encouraged Huanggang’s congregation to uphold Raoping's Christian tradition of social service, contributing to the county's economic and social development while enhancing its reputation in foreign exchanges as a hometown of overseas Chinese.
