Holy Light Church in Daye City, Hubei Province, hosted a handwoven art exhibition in November to welcome Christmas and the New Year.

According to the hosting church, Tujia Christian Dong Xiaohong worked day and night to craft floral works, including roses, chrysanthemums, gerberas, tulips, bougainvillea, camellias, dahlias, and sorrels.

Each piece in the exhibition carries a symbolic meaning. Roses signify love and represent Jesus Christ's passionate love and sacrifice for humans. Chrysanthemums embody the noble character and pure hearts of Christians who follow Christ. Gerberas symbolize the passion and vitality of the Christian faith, while tulips represent Christ's victory and eternity. Bougainvillea reflects the perseverance of Christians on their faith journey, demonstrating courage and faithfulness in the face of challenges. Camellias symbolize the harmonious blending of Christian culture with traditional Chinese culture. Blue dahlias signify the profound depth and expansive breadth of the Christian faith, and sorrels convey blessings and wishes for each individual's life.

Crochet embroidery has a rich history, and while it requires significant time and effort, Ms. Dong expressed her desire to promote traditional Chinese culture and art through her work.

Wuhan Holy Light Church (formerly Hanyang Church) was founded in 1997. Initially, the church held services in a two-bedroom, one-living-room commercial apartment owned by the Wuhan Municipal CC&TSPM. As the congregation grew, the church acquired 1.52 acres (6.8 mu, 4,533 square meters) of land in 2002 and held meetings in a simply decorated church building for nine years. On June 28, 2012, a new three-story construction was completed, with a capacity of over 1,500 people. The chapel spans 0.29 acres (2,666 square meters), and the total building area covers 1.35 acres (4,364 square meters).
