The Rio Olympics is just around the corner and Mayor Eduardo Paes of Rio de Janeiro had a very interesting idea on how they could get visitors to enjoy their stay in Rio.

Mayor Paes has posted in his Facebook page on Wednesday an appeal to Nintendo, the largest stockholder of Niantic, the company that brought Pokemon Go to life. He wants the game to be active in Rio just in time for the Olympic games this summer to attract more visitors to other tourist locations in the city. Rio has been experiencing an economic downturn for the past couple of months and with the Olympics arriving in its doors this August, they need all the assistance they could get to revive its economy and successfully host the Olympics.

Niantic has yet to announce when Pokemon Go will be active in Brazil as the game is currently active in Australia, the US, the UK, Germany and New Zealand. However, the world maps have been done by the company to ensure that their future releases will be open to all regions and cities worldwide.

The Olympics will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from August 5 to 21.
