Renowned martial arts expert and actor Jackie Chan will be awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award in the incoming Oscars according to the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences on Thursday.

Chan, 62, is well-known for his performances in movies such as "Kung Fu Panda", "Rush Hour" and "The Karate Kid". He also directs and produces his films. He started acting since he was a child and made his first movie debut when he was 8 years old. Despite his long career in showbiz, he never won an Oscar.

He will be receiving the award alongside documentary maker Frederick Wiseman, British film editor Anne Coates and casting director Lynn Stalmaster. They will be getting an honorary Oscar statuette for their contributions to the industry at a gala in November held in Los Angeles.

According to Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs in a statement, she called the awardees all "true pioneers and legends in their crafts."
