In 2025, the global church bid farewell to many significant figures. For the church in China, we said goodbye to centenarian pioneers who carried the torch through the tumultuous 20th century, cultural scholars who bridged faith and society, and grassroots pastors who wrestled with theology in the soil of the local church.

On December 17, the Israeli Consulate General in Shanghai marked the Jewish festival of Hanukkah with a reception at the consul general’s residence, bringing together around 50 to 60 guests from diplomatic, business, and cultural circles.

On the afternoon of November 26, 2025, a level-5 fire broke out at the Wang Fuk Court housing estate in Tai Po, New Territories, Hong Kong, sweeping across seven buildings and causing multiple fatalities and injuries. In the aftermath, churches and Christian organizations in Hong Kong responded promptly.

The Sixth Amity Cup International Table Tennis Philanthropic Tournament kicked off on November 14 in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, drawing around 760 players from 23 countries for friendship and charity.

A meeting marking the 80th anniversary of Taiwan's restoration to China was held in Beijing on October 25, the first Commemoration Day of Taiwan's Restoration. Rev. Xu Xiaohong, chairperson of the National TSPM, was invited to attend.

On the afternoon of September 18, 2025, a welcome ceremony for the newly appointed Israeli Ambassador to China and a celebration of the Jewish New Year were held in Shanghai.

On September 5, a farewell ceremony for the Christian painter, poet, artist, and Tsinghua Academy of Fine Arts professor Daozi was held at the Changping Funeral Home in Beijing.

From July 24 to 25, Wuqi County in Yan’an, Shaanxi Province, experienced its heaviest rainfall of the year, triggering flash floods and impacting numerous townships. Rev. Li Lulin, head of the Wuqi County Church, led two teams of co-workers into the hardest-hit villages to carry out flood relief efforts.

On July 10, Mrs. Elyn Gregg Cheney Macinnis, convener of "Friends of Kuliang" who has lived in China for over 30 years and speaks fluent Chinese, was presented with the Friendship Envoy Award at the 2025 Orchid Awards Ceremony.
