As the Chinese New Year approaches, Guangzhou YMCA is preparing a range of activities for local citizens to celebrate the festive season.
According to an announcement by the organizer on January 3, a charity event for hearing-impaired children was held at the Guangzhou YMCA Fangcun Club last Saturday. The event featured cultural performances, interactive games, and gift distribution.
This Saturday, building on three consecutive years of early Spring Festival celebrations, the Guangzhou YMCA will once again engage with local citizens to explore the charm of the intangible cultural heritage of the Spring Festival. Additionally, 100 volunteers will be recruited as part of the event.
During the Spring Festival, it is customary for teenagers to receive red envelopes from their elders. To help teenagers develop a proper understanding of money, the Youth Financial Quotient Camp, which will be held from January 22 to 24, will use interactive course design, scenario-based thematic learning, and heuristic team discussions to teach participants the difference between "wants" and "needs" while fostering cost awareness. The program calls for 25 participants.
On January 27, two days before the Lunar New Year, Guangzhou YMCA volunteers will visit the elderly in a nursing home, accompanying them to the Lunar New Year fair to experience traditional customs and immerse themselves in the festive Cantonese atmosphere. A total of 150 volunteers are needed for the event.
