A themed market convened on October 13 to celebrate the first anniversary of the Change Community Youth Center, hosted by the Shanghai YMCA Huaai Community Service Management Center.

According to the Shanghai YMCA, the event featured a range of artistic performances in the community square, including a string quartet, Hulusi (a traditional Chinese wind instrument also known as the cucurbit or gourd flute), dance, handpan performances, a chorus, and a traditional Chinese-style fashion show. Notably, many of the performers were community residents.

In the interactive area of the market, attendees enjoyed warm drinks to fend off the cold and funny magic shows. The second-hand market offered stories behind each item. The event also featured a traditional Chinese culture element, a DIY workshop on making lacquer fans, which serves as a national intangible cultural heritage. In the Pet Friends Photo Studio, visitors could capture precious moments with their pets or take family photos.

Additionally, the event set up a TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) free clinic offering health consultations and wellness services for community residents.

As one of Shanghai's first municipal apartment projects for talent, the Change Community is dedicated to attracting and retaining young professionals. Through this event, the Shanghai YMCA assumed responsibility for operating the youth center.
