From October 2025, the Cambridge Centre for Chinese Theology will start visiting scholarship programs every academic year.

The six-month visiting scholarship programs will sponsor a scholar specializing in Chinese theology and Christianities as an academic visitor, according to the center's website.

Stipendiary visiting scholars are supposed to "conduct independent research and produce high-quality scholarly work" related to Chinese theology and Christianities and submit original research papers.

Candidates should be "engaged in an academic career, evidenced through academic publications, and employed in a university or theological college (seminary), either in the UK or overseas," with a PhD in theology or other relevant areas. The successful applicant will reside in Cambridge for four to six months to "work on a project related to Chinese theology and Christianities" and will "participate in the research life of the faculty."

Non-stipendiary visiting scholars are supposed to "conduct independent research and produce high-quality scholarly work" related to Chinese theology and Christianities and "present original research papers at a seminar within the faculty."

Both applicants should send a full curriculum vitae and the completed application form.

Established in 2025, the Cambridge Centre for Chinese Theology aims to "extend the research scope of academic theology in the U.K.," "catalyze exchange and collaboration between Western and Chinese theologians and religious thinkers worldwide," and "create and foster academic links between leading universities, divinity schools, and scholars in Europe, North America, East Asia, and South Asia by advancing the study of Chinese theologies." Professor David Fergusson and Dr. Ximian Simeon Xu are the founding co-directors.
