Zhang Kai, a “Professed Christian” lawyer "of human rights" has been seen first time since his arrest appearing on a "confession" television broadcast by a Chinese state-controlled station.
To recall, the 36-year-old lawyer was arrested by security authorities on August 25, 2015.
According to the television broadcast, Zhang admitted his crimes involving risking national security.
"I also warn those so-called human rights lawyers to take me as a warning and not collude with foreigners, take money from foreign organisations, or be engaged in activities that break the law or harm national security and interests," he said on the Wenzhou Television channel.
Zhang claimed that he had been providing legal advices for churches that resist the persecution they suffer, while he himself gave most of ideas to the local Christians as to how to against the governmen and make an impact, said the local media outlets.He additionally composed and dispersed the 'Cross Activist Handbook' prompting church pioneers on how they protect their rights.
He was captured in a congregation in Wenzhou, Zhejiang area and accused of "jeopardizing state security" and "disturbing public order".
