The Chinese government - through the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology - has officially announced that the city of Ningbo in East China's Zhejiang province will be the first city that will be developed under the 'Made in China 2025' plan.
According to the MIIT in a press conference on Thursday, the plan will allow Ningbo to experiment and see other formulas in manufacturing.
The country has been trying to shift away from the low-end manufacturing scheme used throughout the country towards a more value-added production.
The 'Made in China 2025' plan also aims to introduce innovation, foster Chinese brands, green manufacturing, integrate technology and industry, internationalizing manufacturing, restructuring, service-oriented manufacturing, and strengthening the industrial base in the country.
