Many profound things in the Bible come from the parables of the kingdom of heaven. How to understand these parables? Rev. Chen Xun of Yanjing Theological Seminary introduces 4 points.

He shared this with the congregations in the Sunday sermon in Chongwenmen Church, January 24, Beijing.

Chen shares that first of all Jesus told many parables of the kingdom of heaven. Each parable can only explain one problem, not all the problems. Jesus told different parables in different occasions to different people. So a parable only solves one key problem.

Secondly, the parables demonstrate deep things about the kingdom of heaven in simple life stories, events that people can understand and surrounding living situations. So the Bible doesn't talk about the kingdom in glittering words  but in a rough way and tells big secrets of the kingdom in simple themes.

Thirdly, the heavenly things the parables tell are not always corresponding to worldly things thus it is quite hard to manage complicated worldly issues in the perspective of heaven. The principles of the kingdom of heaven are definitely different from those of the world, which lead and correct the worldly ones.

Fourthly, the parables share similar content that encourages men to know truth and faith correctly and to follow truth. These involve two aspects: salvation and life wisdom.
