On October 21, 2016, a delegation from the Hamburg Luthern Church of German visited East China Theological Seminary (ECTS).
The seminary's official website reported that Rev. Xu Yulan, the executive vice president, introduced the seminary and lead the 21-church-leader delegation to visit its chapel, electric piano classroom and library. During the symposium, Rev. Xu said that this year marks the 30th anniversary of city sisterhood between Shanghai and Hamburg.
Rev. Dr. Annette Mehlhorn from the Shanghai German-speaking Christian Community claimed that this is her second visit to the seminary and she witnessed how the seminary emphasizes on both equipping students with theology and their church practice.
Two years ago, President Michael Petermann and two people from Hamburger Konservatorium visited the seminary. Both sides communicated about church music ministry, sacred music talent training, the integration of music with local cultures and the future development of church sacred music.
In 2012, an eight-people mission representing the theological department of the music conservatory paid a visit here. Some teachers of ECTS answered the questions concerning theological education, curriculum setting, book management and sacred music education.
