On January 26, 2018, the church in Pingxiang, Jiangxi, held an annual meeting for AIDS prevention work by a Christian volunteer team.

Founded in 2017, the non-governmental volunteer group providing AIDS patients care invited AIDS experts to give training for its 60-plus members, recalled Xu Wei, one of the Christian volunteers. In the past year, some volunteers paid regular home visits to people living with AIDS, stressing the importance of taking medicine on time and reminding them to have regular medical checkups.

Thanks to the friendship and trust built with those volunteers, AIDS sufferers were convinced that the loss of health didn't equal the loss of dreams and hope.

During the meeting, one HIV-positive woman said that her CD4 count that shows how well a person's immune system is functioning was as low as five more than one decade ago, but has increased to over 500 after being cared for by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention in Anyuan District. Now she has a normal life and a good job.

Experts from local hospitals and the center gave an introduction of AIDS treatment and follow-up examinations and interacted with fourteen locals with AIDS.
