A church in Putian City, Fujian Province, raised a donation of more than 52,000 yuan for the second wave of COVID-19 in Fengting Town, Xianyou County Putian City, while Xianyou County CC&TSPM collected 164,000 from local churches to help fight against the severe pandemic.
Since September 10, Fengting Town was hit hard in this most recent outbreak, with two COVID-19 high-risk areas and five medium-risk areas, according to China Daily. Three rounds of city-wide nucleic acid tests were carried out in the town in mid-September.
Recently, under the leadership of Senior Pastor Liu Xiuzhu, 52,521 yuan was received within two days in the fellowship groups on the WeChat of Meifeng Church in Chengxiang District, Putian City. Later, 1,000 sets of protective clothing and 500 bottles of disinfection gel, which were the most urgently needed supplies on the front line, were purchased and sent to Xiajie Community, Fengting Town, according to Fujian CC&TSPM.
Learning that the workers on the front line did not have a single bite to eat, Rev. Liu organized the staff and female believers responsible for logistics to purchase supplies at around 4 a.m. on Sept 16-17 to make 1000 hot meals before 10 a.m. Together with fruits and other ingredients, these loving meals were delivered to the pandemic area of Fengting Town in Xianyou County.
Since the outbreak of the pandemic, Xiaoyou County CC&TSPM encouraged believers to pray for the pandemic and to do well in the pandemic prevention and control work, such as home quarantine, reporting, vaccination, as well as wearing masks and not believing or spreading rumors.
In addition to that, responding to the notice of Xianyou County Command Center for COVID-19 prevention and control on receiving the social donations, the county CC&TSPM issued an initiative to make a contribution towards the efforts to fight against the pandemic. Materials and a total of 164,000 yuan of donation which was offered by local churches were presented to Fengting Town, Jiaowei Town, Licheng Town, Li’nan Town, DajiTown, Duwei Town and other communities and villages.
