"I benefit from the Gospel, and that is why I want to share its blessing with other people," said a woman in her eighties. It can summarize the thing she has been doing for her whole life.
Chen Zhenghua said these words when she just became a Christian, and now she is still repeating them.
Chen was in charge of the church of Picheng, Danyang City, Jiangsu Province. Recently, the Gospel Times, an online Chinese Christian newspaper, interviewed Chen about her life story.
More than 40 years ago, Chen Zhenghua got to know about Jesus because of her physical illness. After the intercessory prayer of a pastor, Chen recovered from her illness. She wondered in her heart, "People could be saved and healed after believing in God. Then I should share it with other people!"
Then she started to spread the Gospel by herself. Gradually, people around her also got to know about God and started to believe the words of God. There was a huge temple in her hometown and people from the village used to pray there for the blessings of other gods. Later, more and more people got healed physically and had a more harmonious relationship with their families, and many of them started to believe in God.
Chen also spread the Gospel to other villages when she was doing that in her village. When there were about two or three believers in one village, she would help them to form a group. In this way, Chen spread the Gospel to many villages.
The reason that Chen is so glad to spread the Gospel is that she really knows the blessings of the Gospel. "I know exactly about the benefits of believing in God. The non-believers would keep committing sins when they really want to do that. But the believers would never do that because they know that God is always looking at them."
The experience of her aunt could prove this. Her aunt told her a real story: once, a thief stole something from someone. But later, this thief repented of his sins before God and then gave back the things he stole.
Though the information Chen keeps spreading is excellent, there are also some hardships. Sometimes Chen may even be insulted. She has always remembered one particular person even though years have passed. Someone often insulted her, but Chen had been ignoring his insult with the strength from God.
Years later, the one who insulted her was drunk and lay on the bridge of her village unconscious. If he was not helped by anyone, he may be dead. That day, Chen and her husband happened to walk through that bridge and recognized that person. They tried their best to save his life, without even thinking about what he had done to her. Now Chen had retired from the church for more than ten years. Though she already retired, she is still busy with her ministry in the church and keeps spreading the Gospel.
During the conversation, she also shared her recent worries. An old believer was suddenly unable to talk clearly, another old believer was suddenly unable to walk, and an old sister was mad at her husband and talked to her from 1 a.m. to 3 a.m.
