To commemorate the 104th anniversary of the May Fourth Movement, Zhongnan Theological Seminary hosted a lecture titled "Sinicization Reconstruction of Christian Ideology.".
On May 4th, Professor You Bin, dean of the Institute of Religious Studies at Minzu University of China, was invited to deliver a lecture on the subject of "Sinicization Reconstruction of Christian Ideology," said Hubei Provincial CC&TSPM.
During his presentation, Professor You addressed the critical issues that Chinese theology faces in its current situation. By combining the rich traditional Chinese culture, he reconstructed the sinicization of Christian ideology from four aspects, including Christian theology, Christian psychology, Christian ethics, and Christian liturgy.
By elaborating on the concept of "Li (traditional rites in Confucianism)" in Chinese oracle bone inscriptions, You emphasized that the Chinese church should embrace both "Tao" and "Li." He further added that incorporating church worship and faith life based on the liturgical year could serve as the driving force for the church. Doing so would foster a deep connection between God and the congregation and promote harmony between humanity and nature.
