Elder Dr. Simon Fung no longer serves as the honorary general secretary of the Hong Kong Christian Council after two and a half years of work.

On December 31, 2024, the Hong Kong Christian Council (HKCC) released an announcement that Elder Fung’s service as the Council’s honorary general secretary concluded on that day, but he would continue to “participate in the ministries of our Council as a member of the Executive Committee.”

The document said that the duties of the general secretary will be “shared among the Standing Committee members” until a new one is appointed. The external liaison work will be carried out by the chairperson of the executive committee.

Founded in 1954, HKCC works as “the ecumenical body of Christian churches, organizations and institutions in Hong Kong” to promote church unity as well as the work of the ecumenical movement. It is a member of the World Council of Churches and the Christian Conference of Asia.
