Construction of the side chapel started on a new church in Jinsha New District of Qitaihe, Heilongjiang on June 10, 2017. Rev. Qin Shuping, the senior pastor, laid the foundation with the congregation.

Before construction the church made preparations including settling formalities and fundraising. To be economical, Rev. Qin and believers launched a special campaign to collect used bricks for the construction in late March.  The congregation picked up more than 200,000 bricks, saving more than 50,000 yuan.

The pastor told China Christian Daily that the side chapel will cover an area of around 700 mor 0.173 acres. It will be able to hold gatherings during the construction of the main hall and serve as a kitchen after the completion of the hall.  The new church will have a total area of 6588 m2 or 1.628 acres, consisting of a chapel, an annex (the side chapel), and a courtyard, estimated to cost 7 million yuan.
