Two Beijing Churches Cancel In-Person Gatherings in Fight Against COVID-19

Two Beijing churches announced the recent suspension of onsite gatherings in accordance with the measures of pandemic prevention and control.

On its official WeChat account on January 16, Gangwashi Church issued a notice, stating that it would remain closed and suspend group religious activities from that day forth till further notice. During the period of the suspension, believers are advised to scan the QR code to watch the live broadcast or recorded Sunday services, the church reported.

On the same day, Chongwenmen Church halted face to face activities from January 17, reminding its members to attend virtual Sunday services (five sessions in total and each lasts for one hour) on its official WeChat account, said the church.

Beijing on Monday reported one new locally transmitted case in Haidian District, three imported COVID-19 cases and four asymptomatic cases from abroad, with one patient cured and discharged from hospital, according to Haidian District People's Government of Beijing Municipality.
